It's strange, fascinating and confronting at the same time to be in a country where you don't really speak the language. Yes, Portuguese is somewhat similar to Spanish, but its delivery, morphology and pronunciation are different. To my (innocent?) ears, Portuguese seems to be more fluid, where Spanish is more staccato. I'm finding out about Portuguese lessons, at Niki's school!, to familiarize myself a bit more, and to actually learn how to say basic things. Deep and Meaningful Conversations will perhaps we something Of the Future for now, but at least I can try to learn how to order a cup of tea or ask for information. Bom dia! Obrigado! Muito bom!
