Late afternoon. Sunday. Must be Rome. Lush apartment in the centre of the city, a ten-minute walk from the Colloseum; a two-minute walk from the Trevi fountain. Busy. Hot. (Yes! Finally, after the UK cold). T-shirts, skirts, sun hats, sun screen. (Power surges back..., they are so heat-related). Did a guided tour of the Colloseum (very interesting), found a Gelateria and had the most scrumptious gelato, found our way through a Maze of street to the Trevi Fountain, where the rest of Rome had also decided to descend at that exact time... And this was our quiet day in the Italian capital. Tomorrow is our 13-hour round bus trip to Pompei and Vesuvius; the day after we're visiting the Vatican.
But of course more has happened since we last 'met'. So, more about our London visit in the next post. Heading out for dinner now in a local pizzeria. (Where else!)
