As you know our little mare Promise was sold recently to a very nice lady 'down the road' who has trained her, and will be guiding her young equine life further. Today our Big Boy Samson also went to pastures green(er): he was sold to the Peckham Rye Riding Academy near Port Macquari, where he will join another 50 horses or so, more than half of whom are apparently leading retired lives and are being really well taken care of. Not that Sammy is about to retire at 17, but we have it on good account (from the lady who bought Samson for the school) that the owner of the Academy is a lovely lady, dedicated to horses, and that said horses at her place lead a privileged life (regular meals, rugging, grassy paddocks etc). At least we know that he will be taken care of and kept active. Anyone going towards Sydney in the car, drop off at the Doughnut because apparently that is where you get off the Pacific Highway to get to the Riding School. As a little tribute to Sammy, some photos of his departure. He just walked into the float as if he did it every day ...
