To ride or ...

Almost every day we spend some time with the horses. We're training Duchess to take Niki on rides (or are we training Niki to ride Duchess...?) and they're working hard to get used to each other. Here is Niki trying to coax Duchess into coming to her (masterful example of natural horsemanship) to grab a carrot from her hand ... However, Duchesss, by now fully aware that coming to Niki means getting caught and being saddled and being ridden in a roundyard which is, let's face it, less appealing that faffing around in the paddock doing, well, erm, nothing ... is quite reluctant to actually get caught so frequently shies away at the last moment. Niki did manage to get Duchess to accept her leadership which resulted in a few celebratory rounds of the Moreton Bay Fig!
